Everything we want is on the other side of risk.

Whether it's in our relationship with our body, our relationships with our beloveds & kin, in our creative or spiritual endeavors, pretty much all of the things we desire & long for require us to choose risk, to choose experimentation, to choose messiness & discomfort.

And yet, for those of us in rebel bodies, our lived experience has drastically reduced our nervous system's capacity to make those kinds of choices with ease, leaving us to the same shame-based strategies that have harmed us in the first place: pushing, forcing, isolating, berating, cajoling.

In other words, the only way we've learned to do new, exciting, hard, risky shit is by violating our own consent, which we know isn't a sustainable strategy.

How do we get over the threshold and move towards that risk without resorting to self-extraction, urgency, and scarcity?

How de we create paths to risk & thriving outside of the well-worn grooves of internalized oppression & shame?

We need a new way.

We need room in the nervous system for life to surprise us. We need room in the nervous system to trust that help & rest will be available if things are hard, so that our soft animal can be much more willing to consent to taking risks, trying new shit, and making a mess.

What risks might become more accessible if your soft animal could trust that it would reliably receive the kind of support and accommodation it needs?

Enough with the fucking around and finding out, over and over again, that the tools & answers the overculture offers us were never meant to work for our rebel bodies

The future we want requires that we radically rewrite our nervous system story.

One that doesn't override the soft animals of our bodies but instead invites them to co-create with us, asking them what they need in order to feel safe in the process, and allowing them the time & space they need to rest, digest, and integrate.

When we learn to take BOTH our devotion to our dreams AND the capacity of our bodies EQUALLY SERIOUSLY, then radical change can really happen.

Now is the time to cultivate the kind of nervous system that can actually receive the world of safety & abundance we want to build for all beings.

Which means: it's time to start taking your magic fucking seriously.

What Is Soft Animal Magic?

A framework of nervous system magic for witches & weirdos in rebel bodies who want to expand their capacity to feel & receive so they can take radical risks in their relationships and creative lives and embody the world they most want to live in—WITHOUT burning out, feeling shame, getting overwhelmed, or doing it all alone.

Weaving together animism & witchcraft, anti-capitalism & neuroqueer liberation, and somatics, the Soft Animal Magic framework is:

  • Accessible: Starts small & goes slow—because this is hard work and life is already hard enough.

  • Adaptive: Meant to be adapted to your particular circumstances, needs, capacities, visions, values.

  • Archetypal: Uses symbols & imagery from the Tarot and folk stories to ground & illustrate aspects of lived experience.

  • Cyclical: Healing & thriving according to the cycles & rhythms of nature.

  • Elemental: Rooted in the four elements that create & sustain all of life.

  • Fractal: The same principles work at different scales, in the way that the shape of a snail's shell is the same as the shape of a galaxy.

Liberate your soul from the spell of shame by cultivating an accessible magic practice that honors the body you have right now.

Why do we need Soft Animal Magic now?

Because the world is on fire. Because we are TIRED y’all. Because grief, grief, grief. Because the ways we’ve been taught to do things don’t work for us. Because fascism. Because we don’t need to work harder, we need to feel safer. Because we deserve better. Because we need each other. Because the burnout is REAL. Because the world needs our sparkly brains. Because these systems harm us so deeply. Because animism is the antidote. Because community is medicine. Because we can’t repair our trauma without Spirit. Because our dreams are worth it but can’t be reached through the old ways. Because it is time for something new. Because the way we get there matters.

Why a Coven?

I’ve been running group programs and workshops on trauma repair, nervous system capacity, and ritual for over five years, and there are two key takeaways I’ve gleaned from the process:

  1. We cannot do this work alone: systemic trauma is best addressed in ongoing, supportive, intentional communities where we can practice giving & receiving witness & resource.

  2. When the wound is in the body, there’s no amount of information that alone can facilitate repair. People don’t need more facts in order to heal; they need new experiences and new resources.

Accessible & Digestible

We created the Soft Animal Magic Coven to be as accessible as it is comprehensive. Everything in this online space has been designed and gut-checked by three neurodivergent witches who are picky as fuck to be inclusive, sensory-friendly, and functional without being overwhelming.

The Coven is priced so that it could be an easy, sustainable yes for most people in our community, almost all of whom are neurodivergent and/or disabled and/or queer and/or trans, and whose livelihood under these oppressive systems is all too often tenuous.

Meet the witch behind the magic

Fenn Priest (she/her) is an Autistic witch, nervous system psychic, and somatic practitioner. She helps witches & weirdos in rebel bodies expand their nervous system capacity to feel and receive so they can find the embodiment, belonging, freedom, and joy the soft animal of their bodies long for. A loudmouth Gen X stoner hailing from the north woods of Canada, she currently lives in Austin TX with her weird, neurocomplex, polyamorous family, and one bossy black cat named Juniper. She can usually be found putting stickers in her journals and listening to Taylor Swift with noise-cancelling headphones.
